After 25 years of practicing cardiology as both a private practitioner and under hospital employment, Dr. Baker has seen patient care change to the detriment of the patient-physician relationship.
The erosion of that relationship is what inspired him to open Baker Cardiology – a personalized concierge approach to heart health, nutrition and wellness. This new business model allows for unhurried office visits and more quality time with each patient.
Dr. Baker prides himself on being an educator, patient advocate and coach – guiding his patients toward a happier healthier life.
Dr. Baker is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology and values patient education with an emphasis on wellness and prevention.
Dr. Baker grew up on Long Island where he developed an interest in science and technology. After earning his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Baker moved to Florida where he earned his medical degree and met his lovely wife, Dr. Mary Baker while attending Nova Southeastern University.
The Bakers relocated to New Jersey to complete their medical training and start a family. Upon completion of training in cardiovascular medicine at the prestigious Heart Institute of Southern New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson, Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in 1996, the Bakers established a medical practice in Vero Beach.
Dr. Baker is active in several local and national medical communities. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Indian River County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Baker has been a member of the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital Medical Executive Committee, served as medical director for both Indian River Medical Associates Cardiology and the Heart and Vascular Institute, and is a previous chairman of the Department of Cardiology.
The Bakers have two children, Andrew and Meredith, and they recently welcomed a daughter-in-law, Porter, to the family. Dr. Baker enjoys fitness and exercise, cooking, travel, photography, music and spending time with family and friends.
